Sam Sortore has been active in various musical activities for over 30 years. He has played backup for such artists as The Temptations, Jerry Lewis, Joan Rivers, Ethel Merman and dozens of others. He has played with the Denver Symphony and was assistant musical director at Bonfils Theatre. He has extensive musical theatre experience, playing in many Broadway roadshows including Annie, A Chorus Line, Anything Goes, and Singin’ in the Rain. Sam has taught music in public and private schools, was Executive Director of the Denver Youth Musicians and is a past president of the Castle Rock Players Board of Directors. Sam has a Master of Arts degree in Conducting Performance from the University of Denver and was the Choir Director at New Hope Presbyterian Church for 23 years. Sam was also the Musical Director for several of Castle Rock Player’s musicals, including Fiddler on the Roof, Oklahoma, The Wizard of OZ, and The Sound of Music. He was most recently Musical Director for Sweeney Todd at the Parker Cultural Arts Center. Sam has a particular fondness for Old Time Radio and enjoys writing OTR scripts. Sam can usually be found in the tech booth or directing music, but thankfully he occasionally returns to the FCPA stage, and we are excited to have him in 2024’s Fall Follies.
